The History of Famous Casino Scams and Con Artists

Casino scams require ingenuity, sophistication and bravado to pull off. Although most individuals who attempt them ultimately become caught, their planning and expertise deserve respect.

One of the most well-known casino scams ever committed involved a corrupt roulette dealer and two players working together using an insider technique to identify winning bets on the roulette wheel.

The Cutter Gang

Casino scammers rarely match up to the Cutter Gang for impressiveness in casino ruses. This gang of baccarat players used an ingenious, yet straightforward scheme that managed to deceive casinos worldwide.

The gang would use discreet chip switching between tables, stealing money from low value tables. They continued doing this for an unknown length of time and made millions.

Their heist nearly came to an end when they were nearly caught at the Cosmopolitan Casino; however, they managed to avoid detection by hacking into its system in order to escape undetected. Since then, no sign has been heard from this gang; it’s thought they may have switched tactics and began cheating online casinos instead – hopefully using their skills to scam more casinos and make even larger winnings than before! Sadly no one will be able to stop them as they have become an emblem for casino cheating!

The Roselli Brothers

A group of con men from New York in 2012 deceived Ohio casinos by concocting an elaborate casino scam. They used table covertly to move chips between games; one would play low value while the other switched it for high stakes tables.

One member of the gang was actually a dealer; he played as the inexperienced player while his sister-in-law used different tables to avoid detection, pushing the transmitter button when the ball dropped with great accuracy – to the tune of nearly one million dollars per week!

The Colavecchio Scam

Louis Colavecchio earned himself the moniker ‘The Coin’ due to his extraordinary abilities at producing counterfeit slot machine tokens for casinos across America. FBI agents were astounded at his operation’s scope – his workshop contained dies which could produce flawless copies of almost any casino chip and laboratory tests couldn’t detect their fake versions!

One of his many tricks was using a cigarette as a cover to whisper instructions into a hidden microphone in his sleeve, then sending these out to other members of his gang who placed bets accordingly. Over time, this network amassed nearly $7 Million before eventually being dismantled by authorities.

As their method wasn’t considered cheating under gambling law at that time, all their winnings remained theirs without facing any legal charges for cheating or anything similar.
